August 2006
The summer of 2006 was a very busy one! In July, OVPA had a Book/Antique sale and raised over $2,600.  It was very successful with the help of many members. Most of the morning, the M22 highway was lined with cars and people purchasing the wonderful items donated to us.  Omena has taken on a new look with the improvements to the Anderson house (yellow house).  As stone foundation was added to the base of the house, bushes were removed or cut back and a new sprinkler system was installed. A stone driveway, landscaping with new plants and flowers and picket fences were added to the property.  A new well was installed for the Anderson house and the Post Office which now have adequate water pressure.  We are grateful to a very generous anonymous donor who made these improvements possible.  Thanks to B & W Well Drilling, Jerry Holcomb Stone Work and S & J Landscaping for their generous help in completing these tasks.

Resolution on Property Taxes

JULY 2007

OVPA’s appeal or its property tax assessment to the Tax Tribunal for the State of Michigan was successfully resolved with Leelanau Township agreeing to reduce future taxes by $2000 per year and reimbursing OVPA $4000 for taxes paid in 2005 and 2006.

The Post Office has renewed its lease for five more years with a significant increase in rent.

Substantial improvements have been made to the Anderson House including landscaping.

This summer OVPA will conduct a concentrated membership drive to increase the community support for OVPA.
